How about some interesting photo-related sites? I've found them useful and informative so I hope you will too. There's even a list of some books I've enjoyed and found helpful. I'd love to hear of other sites that you like to visit or books you've come across.

Books
The Internet is a great source for timely information, but sometimes there's nothing like a good book to keep you company. Photography books in particular can be better than the Internet for great looking images. So, here's a short list of some of my favorite books.

Real World Camera Raw with Adobe Photoshop CS* by Bruce Fraser and Jeff Schewe
I'm a big fan of RAW capture (see the article on the Stories page), but getting your arms around the process can be challenging. Bruce Fraser was the original RAW format author (unfortunately, he passed away a while back) and is joined by fellow-expert Jeff Schewe in the later editions of the Adobe Camera RAW (ACR) story. ACR has always been a mainstay RAW processor and this series of books offers the most in-depth information. If you shoot RAW, this book will help you understand the power you have available!

Real World Image Sharpening with Adobe Photoshop CS* by Bruce Fraser
Sharpening is a key step in the digital post-processing workflow and this is the best, most thorough, discussion I've seen, using a multi-pass approach for really effective results. Short of buying a plug-in, this is the best there is. And, later editions include Lightroom coverage.

Real World Adobe Photoshop CS* by various authors
This series is one of the best discussions of Adobe Photoshop I've come across, including the background behind the processes so you know why they work as well as how they work.

Outdoor Photographer Landscape and Nature Photography with Photoshop CS2 by Rob Sheppard
Although targeted at Adobe's Photoshop, and version CS2, this is a great look at how to process images to retain their natural origins while expressing the photographer's creative vision, applies to all areas of digital photography as well as to nature and landscape.

The Joy of Digital Photography by Jeff Wignall
Great introduction to both photography in general and digital photography in particular, well written in a very readable style.

Photography and The Creative Life by Nancy Rotenberg
There are lots of photo books that deal with the mechanics of photography - shutter speeds, f-stops, lens focal lengths, and even composition. Fewer, but potentially much more valuable in the long-run, are books that help us work with the creative, expressive aspects of imaging. Nancy Rotenberg is all about creativity and expressing our inner self. It's what she teaches; it's what she talks about in her book; it's who she is and how she lives. If you're ready to move beyond the mechanics of the craft of photography, into the realm of creative expression and aesthetics, this book is an outstanding place to begin your journey. And, there's a more-or-less companion DVD, "Let Your Light Shine, Photography and the Creative Life" that is equally inspirational.
